Rent A Caravan And Travel Victoria

The great thing about a caravan holiday in Victoria is that there’s a huge choice of holiday parks to stay, along the way. Unlike hotels and B&B accommodation, you often don’t even need to book ahead. You can just hit the road and see where you end up, or choose from one of the many parks with great facilities. Even better, when you hire your caravan from our caravan hire depot in Menzies Creek, you’ve got quick access to the M1 and all major highways to get you to your destination. Below are some of Victoria’s best locations to explore in a caravan, a few suggestions for places to stay, and importantly, how to get there.

Wilsons Promontory National Park

Our first recommended destination to travel is the lush, hilly landscapes of South Gippsland and Wilsons Promontory National Park. Wilsons Prom boasts ocean walks, beautiful beaches and rugged mountains. Choose from short walks or long hikes of several days. The camp ground at Tidal River has everything you need, with well appointed showers and toilets and a large general store for all your supplies.

The Grampians

The Grampians are located north west of Melbourne. An adventurers paradise of rocky mountains, plants, animals and rich aboriginal heritage. Stay in a private caravan park at Halls Gap Tourist Park or Grampians Paradise, or choose from several camping locations inside the national park, including Boreang camp ground.

Eildon

If you love water sports then Eildon in Victoria’s east is a great location for a holiday and a popular destination for families. There is over 500 km of shoreline, and Lake Eildon holds more water than Sydney harbour! Lake Eildon National Park provides walking tracks and opportunities for sailing and canoeing. Set up camp at Candlebark, Lakeside or Devil Cove,  in one of the fully equipped camp grounds within the park. Other private holiday parks include Eildon Riverside Holiday Park or the Big 4 Holiday Park, provide full facilities for a comfortable week or more staying in a caravan.

The Great Ocean Road

One of the best caravan rental holidays to be experienced in Victoria is a trip down the 243 kilometre Great Ocean Road. Not only does it provide some of Victoria’s best ocean scenery, there are lots of places to stay and plenty of things to keep you occupied. Explore the beaches, the 12 Apostles, learn to surf, walk in the tree canopy at the Otway Fly, visit the historic 1848  Cape Otway Lighthouse, and explore the sites at Cape Otway and Port Campbell National Parks. After all those activities, relax and enjoy a coffee and a stroll in the many seaside towns. When you rent a caravan for your trip, accommodation is easy. There are plenty of holiday parks from Torquay to Warrnambool, including Bimbi Park at Cape Otway and Big 4 Caravan parks at Anglesea, Wye River and Apollo Bay.

Echuca

Echuca is located at the intersection of the Goulburn, Murray and Campaspe rivers and was a thriving port during the 19th century. Today, the area is a popular destination for holiday makers who enjoy swimming, boating and fishing on the riverbanks, lined with gnarly red gums and wildlife. Echuca is surrounded by wineries and there are also lots of walking tracks to enjoy. With plenty of holiday parks catering for families, there’s lots of choice when it comes to setting up your caravan.

Gippsland Lakes

The Gippsland Lakes are a water-lovers paradise. Comprising a large inland waterway of lakes and lagoons, they are perfect for enjoying all sorts of water sports, from swimming, boating, fishing and canoeing. Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park and The Lakes National Park provide walking tracks and opportunities to explore nature. At Raymond Island you can see Victoria’s largest koala population. There are plenty of local towns to get everything you need and some good local restaurants to enjoy local fare. Choose a holiday park as your base, including Big 4 at Lakes Entrance or Paynesville.
